Countdown to a New Virginia
Countdown to a New Virginia climaxing on November 4, 2025
We are launching a 7-day “Countdown to a New Virginia,” a solemn and focused time of prayer leading up to the statewide election on November 4, 2025. Our state and nation need our intercession. Before we can ask for God's blessing, we must first answer the call of Isaiah 58:1: “Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins.”

Virginia's Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears is a born-again Christian who is running for election on November 4, 2025, as the Republican candidate for governor of Virginia. She was elected Lt. Governor of Virginia in 2022 alongside current Governor Glenn Youngkin, who is term-limited by the Virginia Constitution, and Attorney General Jason Miyares, who is currently running for re-election. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, she immigrated to the United States at the age of six. She served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates.
Firsts for Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears. In 2021 she was elected as the first female lieutenant governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. If elected governor, she will be the second Black elected governor of Virginia (following L. Douglas Wilder, who took office in 1990) and the first Black female governor of any state.

Connection to FOIC Bishop Dean Nelson. Lt. Gov Earle-Sears was a longtime friend of the late FOIC Bishop Dean Nelson from her earliest days in politics. They recorded this video endorsement of the Douglass Leadership Institute when she was Lt. Governor-Elect.
DLI is now headed by FOIC Bishop Garland Hunt. On November 6-8 he is hosting the DLI Annual Conference in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Bishop Boone is speaking on November 6.
Regent University Honors for Lt. Gov. Earle-Sears. She earned her M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, where Bishop Boone previously served on the Board of Trustees. She was named the Regent University Alumna of the Year in 2022. She received the Distinguished Statesman Award from Regent University’s Robertson School of Government in 2023 and was the 2025 commencement speaker.
